Dr Sreeharan is an independent Consultant in Pharmaceutical Medicine, formerly of GlaxoSmithKline, where he held several Senior Executive positions in the global R&D organisation spanning over 20 years, including the position of Senior Vice President and European Medical Director. He currently holds Visiting Professorships at the School of Biomedical Sciences, King's College, London and the Postgraduate Medical School, University of Surrey, UK and a Senior Visiting Professor in Medicine and Pharmacology at the UITM Medical School, Malaysia. Sree also functions as a Member of the Board of Examiners in Pharmaceutical Medicine at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and served as a Foundation Professor and Chairman of Medicine in Sri Lanka in the early eighties.

During his tenure at GlaxoSmithKline, Sree oversaw the development and registration of several new medicines in Europe across a wide array of therapeutic areas. He was the Chairman of an integrated European Medical Department with responsibilities for both R&D and Medical Affairs. He was also instrumental in championing the concept of Medical Governance and developing educational programmes in Pharmaceutical Medicine.
